ABOUT ME

My name is Weijie. I am an international student from China and I study economics at the University of Cincinnati. I am an independent and responsible person. I started to study and manage myself away from my home when I was 15 years old. So I know how to take responsibility for my own life. Because I am the oldest one in my family, so I do my best to take my responsibility to be a good model for my younger brother and sister. I am also a developer in other people's eyes. I am really good to find other’s strengths and I know what to say and how to say it so to make my compliments or words sound truthful and sincere. Therefore, the most important role I play in a team is to promote team cohesion . I have three work experiences in last two years. I was a manager assistant in the manufacture company. Also, I used to work in an international barbershop for a half year.

My weakness is I am not really good to refuse other people. (don't know how to say no)When someone asks me for help, I feel I should help him or her. But I knew that is a serious weakness of me, especially in the workplace. Always help others is easy to make myself feel tired and stressed, also it is more likely to make other people become lazier. Therefore, in order to improve me. I gave myself three suggests that how to refuse other people. First, don't blindly say no. Second, learn to say no politely, Third, provide a solution after refusing people.

As an international student, be a global citizen scholar and develop philanthropy is my goal. The resource of my happiness is getting along with people and helping people. Therefore, I want to do my best to develop more skills at my studying age, which can help me to achieve my goal. I believe UHP is the best platform for me to learn and develop various skills global citizen scholars need. This is an important reason why I want to join this organization. Also, the competencies of UHP also is my competencies. For community engagement, I often participate in volunteer activities on the weekend after I came to Cincinnati. Recently, I attend the National Philanthropy Luncheon in Cincinnati Music Hall. Also, the most meaningful volunteer activity recently for me is sharing and teaching my country's culture with local elementary school students in Blue Ash library. I really enjoy engaging the local community and to study local culture. For the Global study, there are more opportunities for me- an international student to make friends with other people come from different counties and get along with them in the US. We always learn different cultures from each other. At the same time, I join in a club called icat in UC, which is more like a bridge to connect international students and American students, students who come from different countries will share their own culture every week. Therefore, I learned a lot of knowledge about Global Studies. In addition, I am interested in leadership studies, there is a speech about leadership I participation in. The speaker is a finance manager who works for P&G twenty years. The most important I I learn from the speech is how to build your own leadership system. I believe I can reach my greatest potential in UHP because I have the same competencies with UHP.

The experience in this organization and the success I have achieved will be seen as the motivation and encouragement for my life goal. In my opinion, it is not easy to achieve true success in anything, it must take some hard work and efforts. And I think it's worth it to play to my strengths in the UHP and to work hard to achieve success. Because I believe that everything I do for this organization is very meaningful, and these experiences will help me develop my strengths, cultivate more excellent qualities, and discover and remedy my shortcomings. Therefore, I will regard the process of doing everything for this organization as a process of cultivating my comprehensive quality. I will try my best to do everything well and achieve success. Meanwhile, I will not care too much about the material rewards or reputation after success because I also want to test if I have capabilities to do it well. I will be interested in any activities and opportunities in the organization. At the same time, I will actively sign up for these opportunities. Even if there is no chance of being elected, I will not be upset. On the contrary, I will make better preparation for the next opportunity.

In my opinion, all these things mean learning and responsibility to me. Learning is because in order to become a global citizen scholar, I must cultivate myself to be a comprehensive quality people with international awareness, international knowledge and comprehensive international capabilities. Learning how to think from the perspective of globalization, develop knowledge of global cultures, social systems, economic education, and develop foreign language skills and cross-cultural communication skills. Secondly, it also means a great responsibility to me. This responsibility is multi-faceted in my opinion. We should shoulder the responsibility of organizing, participating in international cultural exchanges, paying attention to the economic and cultural development of the global village, environmental protection and the develop global peace and friendship. This responsibility for me is not to give up on the halfway, but to carry out the implementation of the actual things, firmly fulfill the mission, act as a giant.

The plan for my next ten years, I plan to finish the Economic and Information System these two major during my undergraduate program. Then I will try my best to get the offer of OPT (Optional Practical Training) for the international student to get a year of work experience in the workplace. After that, I would like to go back to school and spend a year to study MBA. After I get my graduate degree, I am more likely to go back to China to help father manage the business.
My ultimate dream job is to create a non-profit organization or charity focus on children's education. And I will devote myself to philanthropy.
